BP2000 Powder is a specialty dry lubricant for fine tuning gun bores.
Used with SMOOTH-KOTE, friction is reduced by 20% compared to oil.
This pair of self-cleaning products gives metal a grime-reducing, non-stick
coating so dirt, residues and fouling are easily removed.
SMOOTH-KOTE improves bore interior smoothness. Proper application
of this product provides a bonded layer of lubricating crystals on the
bore's interior. This crystal coating offers several advantages:
- A SMOOTH-KOTE
treated bore is actually smoother than an untreated one.
The new smoother surface distorts the bullet less and so tears less from
the bullet. The result is less fouling.
- Compared to bare steel,
this surface is very well lubricated. A slicker surface reduces the
friction felt by the bullet's surface and so the bullet moves more
quickly and creates less heat.
-
This molecular layer of SMOOTH-KOTE insulates the bore, limiting
heat transfer to the barrel; a gun bore that does not get as hot will
tend to last longer and is less apt to spot-weld bullet material to
the bore interior. These factors all reduce metallic bore fouling
(consequences of frictional heating and localized welding). Reduced
metallic fouling leads to a reduction in powder fouling.
The
net result? Bore treatment with SMOOTH-KOTE enhances accuracy and
has been shown to increase muzzle velocity. You can enhance and magnify
these effects by using BP2000 Powder on top of SMOOTH-KOTE. Doing
this will result in a gun bore whose surface has a lower coefficient of
friction and greater non-stick properties.
Sentry Solutions approach to fouling reduction and extending accuracy of barrels is completely divergent from the use of "coated bullets." When we evaluated the issue of extending accuracy we immediately realized treatment of the bullets would lead to a build up of material in the bore which is what we were trying to prevent. From a performance and functional stand point it does not matter if the material building up in a bore is metal fouling or moly fouling. Anything which compromises the uniformity of the bore is bad for performance and accuracy.
Our approach eliminates the build up of material. SMOOTH-KOTE and BP2000 Powder were developed as bore treatments to aid in barrel break in and for regular bore conditioning. For barrel break-in, they serve to reduce the number of rounds needed to break in any barrel. In regular use, they extend the number of rounds which can be fired without a fall off in accuracy due to fouling.
Unlike firing coated bullets, Sentry Solutions' products completely eliminate the build up of moly seen with the use of coated bullets. A finite amount of SMOOTH-KOTE (used with or without BP2000 Powder) is applied to the bore and so there is no possibility of build up.
Use of our products makes cleaning much easier as there is less to clean (through the reduction of fouling) and what residue is generated is unable to stick to the metal surfaces. Sentry Solutions products bond to the metal surface and the result is a smoother bore, a bonded lubricant which imparts a non-stick property to the surface. Literally a lubricating barrier against friction and fouling.
Performance results are seen in a dramatic (some customers claim elimination) decrease in fouling and an increase in velocity.
Bullet coating results in material build up as a result of the physical embedding of the "bullet coating" in the surface of the bore. Bullet coating forces changes in reloading methodology to compensate for the change in release pressure.
There is no need for special cleaners as our products are bonded to the metal surface not embedded in the surface.
The products are also used for general firearms lubrication, trigger and action tuning.
