Gun care presents a huge dilemma. You, your guns and your gear face all kinds of weather and conditions. When faced with sand, dust, and dirt, CLP attracts it! When exposed
to freezing temperatures, CLP and PTFE based lubricants can thicken and gum up. That only covers what Mother Nature throws at you. Firing a gun and the residues created brings on cleaning chores, which give the best chemists migraines. The answer to these gun care challenges has a simple answer. The answer is to replace CLP and lubricate and protect with bonded dry film technology rather than oil.
Sentry Solutions dry film lubricants such as SMOOTH-KOTE and protectants like
TUF-CLOTH do not attract sand and dirt and will not thicken or thin as a result of
temperature extremes, all while giving you performance and protection proven in
combat and competition.

The
proper lubrication of guns presents many challenges. The first objective to
lubricating a firearm is to reduce friction and wear. Even with the replacement
of metal by plastic polymers for many of today’s gun parts, it is still the
metal-to-metal mechanisms that allow guns to do what they do. Glock firearms use
polymers for the construction of their receivers, yet metal parts are still
embedded in the plastic. These metal parts engage the slide’s metal surface and
so require proper lubrication. If not properly lubricated, many guns will
function, but they will not function as well or as long.
The
huge variety of firearms available today presents its own challenges. If you are
like most, you own different makes and models and different types; ranging from
pistols and revolvers to shotguns, rifles and muzzleloaders. Fortunately, firearms have common maintenance requirements-
lubrication and corrosion protection. The gun care products you choose to solve these
problems will determine how well your gear performs for you and how much effort
you’ll have to expend to achieve the desired performance.
Traditionally CLP was used to solve both lubrication and
corrosion problems. CLP products have been available commercially. While
many of these products feature special additives and formulations and claim to
do miraculous things, they all share one common undisputed similarity: They all
work when wet.
In
the mid 1980’s Sentry Solutions considered methods to make firearms maintenance
easier. We found there were many good lubricants on the market but the fact that
they all worked when wet actually contributed to malfunctions and cleaning
chores. When a firearms’ surface is wet it attracts and holds sand, dirt and residue
of all kinds. All CLP is easily removed when an oiled surface comes into
contact with cloth, sand, or your hand or holster. Sentry Solutions recognized
that if we replace CLP and oil with dry gun lubricants we could solve many of the
equipment malfunctions caused by the use of CLP. SMOOTH-KOTE is Sentry
Solutions answer to replace CLP and oil. Along with TUF-CLOTH, TUF-GLIDE and BP2000 Powder
these lubricants and protectants do not attract and hold sand, dirt or residue of any
kind. In fact, a gun lubricated with SMOOTH-KOTE will actually resist the build
up of residues and fouling to such an extent that cleaning is as simple as
brushing off.
Sentry Solutions dry
lubricants are similar to non-stick cookware. Metal-to-metal surfaces glide over
each other. After treatment, gun actions slide more freely, and sand, dirt and grit
aren’t attracted. Any fouling, residue or dirt accumulated through use are shed
or easily removed without solvents. This is a revolutionary approach to gun care.
More
than 50,000 of our troops have found that if they replace their CLP with
TUF-CLOTH and TUF-GLIDE they can reduce their malfunctions and gun care chores.
Sentry Solutions makes a complete toolbox of products for
gun care. Sentry’s Tuf products provide rust protection and lubrication. Our
specialty products such as SMOOTH-KOTE, BP2000 Powder and HI-SLIP GREASE provide
lubrication, bore treatment, trigger tuning and keep firearms in top
shape.
